In Illinois, USA, on June 28, 2024, at 2:39 am, a football field suddenly collapsed, forming a huge sinkhole in the center of the field. The sinkhole's diameter is at least 100 feet (about 30.5 meters) and is 50 feet deep (15.2 meters). The collapse was believed to be caused by an underground mine below the field.
