With current subsidies for air conditioning and energy-efficient home appliances running out quickly, the Economic Ministry has proposed a second phase of subsidies worth over 14 billion NTD to extend the assistance until 2028. This subsidy program, initiated in 2023 to promote energy conservation, has already benefited 2.01 million appliances, resulting in 1.2 billion kWh of electricity saved. Due to high demand, the remaining budget of less than 20 billion NTD prompted the new proposal to ensure continued support for replacing non-energy-efficient appliances with more efficient models by offering a subsidy of 3000 NTD per appliance.

A plastics bag factory near the Xiluo fruit and vegetable market caught fire around 9:30 p.m., with the entire building ablaze.
