On June 10, 2024, the nationwide dental chain 'Abc Dental Alliance,' founded by the 'Godfather of Dentistry' in southern Taiwan, Shieh Shang-ting, is suspected of illegally employing 13 'secret' dentists and fraudulently claiming over 40 million in National Health Insurance fees. The dentists, most of whom are overseas-trained students, were allegedly recruited to treat patients without proper licensing, leading to a criminal investigation by the Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office. This is not the first time the group has been accused of violating the Physician Act, having been fined in the past for similar offenses.
