According to a report by China Times on June 13, 2024, at around 8 p.m., a Porsche SUV driver was involved in a collision for unknown reasons on the 345-kilometer section while traveling northbound on National Freeway No. 1 in Gangshan. The accident involved 1 large and 3 small vehicles, with the Porsche sustaining severe damage to the front end. The male driver was trapped inside and pronounced dead after being rescued by firefighters. Two small cars also lost parts in the accident.
