On June 7, 2024, the South Korean Navy departed from Jeju to Hawaii to participate in the 2024 Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC), the world's largest multinational maritime exercise involving around 840 personnel from the Navy and Marine Corps. The fleet includes destroyers, landing ships, submarines, patrol aircraft, and amphibious assault vehicles. RIMPAC, led by the US Third Fleet, aims to enhance multinational combat capabilities among allies and ensure peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
