More than 170 US business groups supporting free trade have requested the Biden administration to extend the consultation period by 30 days on the plan to impose higher tariffs on imports from China, including electric vehicles, batteries, solar products, etc., with some tariffs expected to come into effect on August 1. A fire broke out in the Criminal Investigation Bureau located in an alley off Zhongxiao East Road, Section 4 in Taipei this evening. The fire department arrived to find the second floor ammunition room on fire with tear gas burned, but fortunately no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
