On July 1, 2024, at around 1:00 pm, an approximately 57-year-old man drowned at QiXingTan in Hualien. Coastguards pulled him ashore and sent him to the hospital, but he had no signs of life upon arrival, ultimately declared dead. The detailed cause of the incident is pending further investigation.
