In Neihu District, Taipei City, on the night of June 22, a Tai Tai coin trader was robbed by two men carrying knives during a face-to-face transaction, resulting in over 20,000 Tai Tai coins and over 10,000 yuan in cash being stolen. The victim, a 55-year-old surnamed Liu, was abducted and then left in the woods. The police quickly captured the two suspects involved, aged 22 and 20, by reviewing surveillance footage. The incident is under investigation for robbery, deprivation of liberty, and assault.

According to a report from Chinatimes, on June 25, 2024, at 11:52 AM, a fire broke out at a noodle shop on Dazhi Street in Sanchong District, New Taipei City. The fire was suspected to be caused by a motorcycle knocking over a gas pipeline or mishandling of a gas tank. The fire was extinguished after about 7 minutes, burning an area of 8 square meters. Under the influence of climate change and urban heat island effect, northern Taiwan has been getting hotter in recent years, with some areas even experiencing higher temperatures than the southern regions. However, based on data from the Central Weather Bureau over the past 30 years, the hottest city in all of Taiwan is 'Tainan,' where over half of the days in a year have temperatures exceeding 30 degrees. Due to climate change and the urban heat island effect, temperatures are continuously rising across Taiwan, with cities like Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, and Taoyuan becoming heat warning areas. According to the weather station 'Tu Di,' in the same 30-year statistics, Tainan ranks first nationwide with an average of 186 days per year with temperatures over 30 degrees, followed by Kaohsiung with 174 days, Chiayi with 173 days, Taichung with 171 days, Hengchun with 169 days, Taitung with 150 days, and Taipei with 146 days. It is evident that the hottest cities are concentrated in the central and southern regions of Taiwan.

Fugitive Shen Weichen took advantage of the eve of the 9-in-1 elections in November to use the Lion Rock Republic-flagged yacht 'Aquarius 1' to smuggle back around 800 kilograms of third-class drug Ketamine worth approximately 8.2 billion NT from Thailand to Taiwan, but was intercepted by the Coast Guard. The Supreme Court sentenced Shen and others to varying prison terms from 7 years to 12 years and 6 months under the Drug Control Act. The scheme was foiled when authorities intercepted the yacht near Qieding in Kaohsiung as they attempted to land the drugs on the eve of the election. Shen and three others attempted to appeal the judgment but the Supreme Court upheld the verdict.
